5 October Make Your Own Sustainable Washable Face Pads
Join Daisy from Make Thrift London and make your own washable and reusable face pads using vintage fabrics and organic bamboo terry cloth. These will replace any disposable cotton wool pads you already use so are zero waste and plastic free. WIN!! You will make a set of 5 face pads during the workshop as well as learn basic sewing machine skills. Those who are confident sewists may also have time to make a mini drawstring bag to store and wash your face pads in.Cost: £35 per person plus booking fee.Tickets: 6 People max (4 minimum)Price includes all materials and instrutions to make more at home. These can also be made without a sewing machine. Further materials will be available to purchase after the workshop. Chloe McCarrick is a fine art photographer and mixed-media printmaker. From her London studio and darkroom, she creates bespoke, original and limited edition nature inspired prints and gifts. There’s something for all budgets, from wearable pieces of art to bespoke works to adorn home and interior projects. Chloe embraces and develops innovative ways of reworking photographic images through collage and mixed-media print techniques, and by blending science, darkroom alchemy and art. The work explores the boundless possibilities of image production in the age of modern printmaking with an aim to reinvent, recycle, redefine, experiment and preserve. 26 October Brush Lettering Workshop
Whether you’re an avid typography fan, or simply want to try your hand at something new and creative, we would love you to join one of our Brush Lettering workshops. You’ll be taught by Teri Muncey, designer, illustrator, stylist and the talent behind The Lovely Drawer. In this class of roughly 10 students: You will be given a set of essential materials which you can take away after class, including guide sheets, Teri’s preferred brush and a pot of indian ink. You will also be provided with practise paper and thicker card stock for your final pieceTeri will introduce contemporary brush lettering and it’s applicationsYou’ll first work on exercises to get your familiar with brush control, practicing making shapes, and contrasting stroke thickness. You’ll take these basic techniques into letterforms, in uppercase and lowercase, as well as numbers with plenty of help and guidance on handThis will be followed with a run through on combining and laying out words to form beautiful phrases for your final piece. By the end of the workshop you’ll be well on your way to developing your own brush lettering style and armed with the materials to go away an practise until you’re a complete pro!PLEASE NOTE: Tickets are non-refundable and non-changeable. This is an e-ticket – please bring with you the email confirmation on your phone (no hardcopy ticket will be posted). Although accidents are rare, the ink is black and may not come out of clothes so please dress accordingly!
