Dozeli is a London based interior design and art studio that explores the historical and cultural aesthetics through a modern lens. Co-founders Mazamir and Golzar Booshehri are British Iranian Interior designer and artists who are passionate about enhancing human experiences. Duo designers engage their opposing visions of art and design to form a visual juxtaposition where spaces, decorative objects and art p celebrate contrast and harmony. Dozeli limited edition prints use mixed media representations to combine culture, history and modernity in pursuit of sharing personal and collective thoughts of time and space. Returning for her second pop-up at West Elm, Westfield London, Jessica Wilde is a Staffordshire based surface pattern designer and illustrator who creates unique and eye-catching designs inspired by nature and wildlife. Each artwork begins with hand drawn detailing, combined with an expressive colourful twist. The passion behind her work is ‘biophilia’, our innate need to connect with nature, a concept at the heart of Jessica’s inspiration and the focus of a recent Masters in Textile Design at Birmingham City University. The collection aims to share a love for nature that can be enjoyed in the home or as treasured gifts and accessories. The pop-up brings the Biophilia collection to West Elm for 2 days, featuring home and fashion accessories, art, stationery and gifts. There’s also the opportunity to join Jessica on the Sunday afternoon for a fun and relaxing stylised botanical drawing workshop. Join us for a relaxing afternoon of botanical drawing where I’ll be sharing tips & tricks for stylised and informal drawing, from fun doodling to detailed botanicals in your own unique style.Suitable for total beginners to those more experienced, this class will be an opportunity to learn new ways to enjoy nature and florals, appreciate the little details and create your own beautiful art.We’ll be a class of approx 8 students and I’ll be guiding you through the following: •You’ll be given your own art materials which you can take home with you, including a sketchbook, fineliners and a pocket watercolour set, perfect for creating art on your travels and adventures.•We’ll start off with simple drawing exercises exploring various techniques with fineliner pens.•You’ll then develop your drawing techniques sketching from flowers and botanicals, and explore different ways you can add watercolours.•Finally you’ll begin work on a final piece you can take home with you, along with the new art materials and drawing techniques you can continue to develop and enjoy. |16 February||Brush Lettering Workshop with The Lovely Drawer |
Whether you’re an avid typography fan, or simply want to try your hand at something new and creative, we would love you to join one of our Brush Lettering workshops. You’ll be taught by Teri Muncey, designer, illustrator, stylist and the talent behind The Lovely Drawer. In this class of roughly 10 students:•You will be given a set of essential materials which you can take away after class, including guide sheets, Teri’s preferred brush and a pot of indian ink. You will also be provided with practise paper and thicker card stock for your final piece•Teri will introduce contemporary brush lettering and it’s applications•You’ll first work on exercises to get your familiar with brush control, practicing making shapes, and contrasting stroke thickness.•You’ll take these basic techniques into letterforms, in uppercase and lowercase, as well as numbers with plenty of help and guidance on hand•This will be followed with a run through on combining and laying out words to form beautiful phrases for your final piece.•By the end of the workshop you’ll be well on your way to developing your own brush lettering style and armed with the materials to go away an practise until you’re a complete pro!PLEASE NOTE: Tickets are non-refundable and non-changeable. This is an e-ticket – please bring with you the email confirmation on your phone (no hardcopy ticket will be posted). Although accidents are rare, the ink is black and may not come out of clothes so please dress accordingly!
|23 February||Cartography in Stitch Workshop with Ekta Kaul |
Learn hand embroidery from textile artist Ekta Kaul and stitch a keepsake map of London. Ekta will guide you in creating a dictionary of 6 basic embroidery stitches. Once confident with the techniques, you will use them to embellish a cotton London map sampler which is based on Ekta's original drawing (size 42cm x21 cm). After the class, you will be able to take the sampler home along with an illustrated instructions booklet which is designed to help you carry on with your embroidery. The group size is small, so there will be lots of one-on-one inputs. Ekta will also share details of her creative process, inspiriation, artists and books. All materials including threads, needles, hoops will be provided for the workshop. All levels are welcome, including beginners. The workshop promises to be creative and convivial with the added bonus of being surrounded by West Elm's beautiful wares. If you like the idea of slowing down, enjoy creative conversations with like minded people and want to enhance wellbeing through creativity, this workshop is right up your street.
